Our lovely campervan took our family (two adults and three children (then aged 4-10-14) across Europe for nine months, without any problems, to the most beautiful places. It's a 3.0 TDI with 6 gears, so even the mountains (with a trailer) are no problem. It also has a reversing camera.
The camper has 2 seats with seat belts in the front, and a total of 6 people can sit on the side benches in the back (without seat belts).
We designed and partially built the van ourselves, ensuring it had the ideal layout for our trip. This meant it had plenty of cupboard space, a spacious refrigerator with a freezer compartment, and ample countertop space for cooking, including a stove that's tucked away in a drawer so it doesn't take up any counter space.
For us, this van is truly a second home—not the perfect, ready-made campervan you sometimes see, but one that's been lived in and is meant to be lived in, and where you sometimes have a greenhouse that flies open while driving. (We did spill a few full jars of honey during the trip, falling out of a cupboard on a bend). For us, that's the charm of this homemade, complete, off-grid, child-proof campervan.
SITTING and SLEEPING
The U-shaped seating area can be converted into a 185 x 185 cm bed, which means three of us (still) sleep on it. There are also two hanging beds that are perfect for children to lie on. These are 60 x 175 cm and 60 x 165 cm.
Sleeping bags for these two beds are included, as well as two toppers for added comfort. Bedding is also included for the large bed.
BRING: your own pillow.
Under the seating area, you'll find the battery on one side and the fresh water tank on the other. There's also room on both sides for extra items. There's also plenty of room at the rear for things, including the water hose, cables, and plugs.
KITCHEN
The campervan has a full-sized sink, a three-burner gas stove that's in a drawer and pulls out when cooking. There's ample cupboard space to store all your groceries, as well as plenty of crockery and pans. No hassle with inventorying crockery; if anything breaks, we'll replenish it from a thrift store visit. There's also a Wonderpan, or an oven for the gas stove, so you can easily make a cake or fresh bread during your holiday.
COOKING: it runs on LPG and you can choose to cook indoors or outdoors.
REFRIGERATOR: This runs on electricity, either from the battery which is fed while driving, from the solar panels or via a cable to the pole.
CAUTION: The battery should never be allowed to drop below 70/75%, otherwise the battery will be damaged.
WATER: The camper is equipped with an 80-liter fresh water tank and an 80-liter waste water tank.
All basic kitchen supplies are provided: 4 tea towels, 2 hand towels, dishcloths, and dish soap. A basic assortment of herbs is also provided (coriander, cumin, Celtic sea salt, ginger, organic cinnamon, curry, organic oregano, organic thyme, chili powder, smoked paprika, coarsely ground black pepper, turmeric, and baking soda).
TOILET
There's no bathroom in the campervan; you can shower at a campsite or quickly use a washcloth at the sink. There is a toilet, and you can choose between a porta potty and a compost toilet. You don't need a campsite to empty a compost toilet, but you do need a porta potty. We'd be happy to explain the differences in a message.
COOLING and HEATING
The maxxfan provides cooling, removes warm air, or blows in fresh air.
The diesel heater is wonderful for the colder days.
PETS
These are certainly welcome, but they are not allowed on the couch/bed. The camper must also be returned to her free of charge.
You'll receive a comprehensive explanation of how everything works upon departure, as well as a manual. I'm also available to answer any questions you may have along the way.
A lot is possible in consultation with us, including times of departure and arrival, and which items you would and would not like to use from us.
We assume you'll return the camper clean. If not, we'll charge a €50 cleaning fee, which will be deducted from your deposit.
There are no environmental stickers for Germany and France yet, please take this into account.
We are open to all questions and would now like you to enjoy this wonderful campervan.
