Well, what do you do when you suddenly have a lot of time on your hands during the corona period? Well, make a long-cherished wish come true.
So I bought a carpenter's van, stripped it, cleaned it and from there converted it into this camper. I had never done it before, so I thought I could do it. And that turned out to be true. After overcoming all the challenges, there is now a beautiful camper van, which is equipped with all the comforts:
- 5 seats equipped with seat belts
- 4 sleeping places
- lifting roof, so you can stand while cooking or washing dishes
- refrigerator with freezer compartment
- gas stove
- sink with cold running water
- clean and dirty water tanks
- electricity with 220V inside. Thanks to an inverter it is not necessary to connect power from outside.
- mini toilet
- lots of storage space
The camper has had a safety inspection after it was finished and has been appraised. All safety regulations have been met. Technically it gets its periodic minor and major services and of course the MOT inspection. In addition, it has not driven that many kilometers.
In short, it is a reliable travel partner. And if something unexpected happens on the road, you can fall back on the Goboony insurance!
The advantage of this size camper is that you can put it anywhere. Also in or near the city, supermarket, restaurant or whatever. And you move quickly from a to b. In addition, it is a euro 5 diesel and therefore it is allowed in most cities. The environmental sticker for France is already on it and we were allowed to enter Paris with it.
The disadvantage is that it is rather small inside, so when it rains it is a bit of a makeshift. At the moment I have 2 separate awnings. With some tinkering you can sit dry or in the shade in front of your camper.
But how is it in practice? After all that tinkering and tinkering, it was finally time. I tested it properly. Waved goodbye to my wife and children and off to Greece, Albania and all the countries you can encounter from home to there and back home again. A road trip of 6700 km. No problem. It was great and everything I had made worked as it should. Proud as a peacock, I drove through the Balkans with my orange-black bus. I have seen and done so much. Great!
The nice thing was that I didn't have to connect to electricity anywhere. That sometimes made a difference in the price for the campsite. While driving, the battery for the indoor part charged and then it took about 4 days before it was empty again. Well, by then I had already driven a bit and it was full again. And then every time a nice cold beer from my own fridge and a small snack on the gas stove. Yes, that was all well arranged.
You arrive at the campsite and within 10 minutes everything is set up and you are sitting with your cold drink. The next morning after breakfast everything is quickly put away and you can go again.
The nice thing is that you can just drive 130 on the highway. Also in city traffic, passes and narrow mountain roads you are much faster and more agile than with a large and longer camper.
But you know what? Discover it yourself and go on a journey. Experience your own adventures and discover all the beauty of Europe. I will gladly rent it to you if you treat it with as much love as I do.
Interested? Just give me a call. I will be happy to answer all your questions. And who knows, it might be something for you on your next holiday......
