Hired Oakie for a 10 day trip round the South West of England with my partner, and had a fantastic time.
The van has been converted to a very high standard, with lots of great practical features, and lots of little touches which made it feel extremely homely. It is very competitively priced compared to some of the others we found, and has a much more generous mileage cap than many of the larger companies who often charge you a premium after travelling relatively low distances.
It comes with loads of camping/kitchen essentials so there is a lot you don't need to worry about packing (David sent us the full list when we enquired), and it has some great features that made life a bit easier on the road. The outdoor heated shower is a real bonus if you're planning on visiting any beaches!
David gave a very comprehensive handover when we picked Oakie up, but if you forget anything he has a guide on how to work the water/heating etc, and he was very helpful and responsive when we messaged him questions mid trip.
Overall would highly recommend - Oakie is a lovely van and David a fantastic owner!

Great van and David is a lovely guy to deal with. The care and attention he has put into the conversion is clear to see and the oak finish on the cabinets is fantastic. The van is lovely inside, has all the equipment you need and it’s warm, homely and easy to drive.
It looks good in the photos and even better in the flesh.
The handover was really thorough and David was easy to deal with. One small issue was quickly resolved and I would definitely recommend David and his van Oakie if you fancya top quality trip in a cosy home on wheels.

Wir (zwei Teenager + Mutter) sind zu dritt 10 Tage von Liverpool aus nach Schottland unterwegs gewesen und Oakie war: perfekt! Der Wagen ist komfortabel, sehr gut ausgestattet und praktisch, wunderschön und wohnlich gestaltet, und sehr gut zu fahren. David hat den Wagen mit viel Liebe für’s Detail ausgebaut, und er ist der beste Vermieter. Er hat uns vor dem Buchen geduldig und schnell alle Fragen beantwortet und uns herzlich empfangen. Er war auch während der Reise bei Fragen für uns da und bei der Behebung eines Blechschadens fair und konstruktiv.
Oakie war für uns drei geräumig, die Raumeinteilung ist gut durchdacht, der viele Stauraum ist gut organisiert, alles ist stabil. Der Wagen ist vor allem aber auch geschmackvoll gestaltet und wir haben uns sofort zuhause gefühlt. Es gibt alles Geschirr und Kochzeug, das es braucht, einen Herd mit 3 Flammen und sogar einen Backofen, sodass Kochen und Abwaschen sehr easy ist. David hat uns eine Grundausstattung mitgegeben (Tee, Kaffee, Zucker, Milch, Öl, Salz & Pfeffer), ebenso Seife, Shampoo und Abwaschmittel, was wir sehr geschätzt haben.
Die Betten sind bequem, auch der 3. Schlafplatz, der sich sehr schnell aus der Sitzlounge umbauen lässt, aber auch tagsüber aufgebaut bleiben kann, wenn man den Platz nicht zum Essen braucht. Das Schlafklima war sehr gut, trotz Regen und Temperaturen bis maximal 18 Grad brauchten wir die Heizung nicht.
Dadurch, dass Oakie mit den Solarpanels eine eigene Energieversorgung hat, waren wir unabhängig und konnten an schönen, einsamen Orten übernachten. Campingplätze haben wir nur zweimal gebucht, um Wasser nachzufüllen und Wäsche zu waschen. Auch das eingebaute Internet ist praktisch, wenn man z.B. kein Roaming für’s Handy hat.
Trotz seiner Länge (6.7 m) war der Wagen sehr gut zu fahren und auch der Linksverkehr war für mich vom Kontinent kein Problem (bis auf die Kreisverkehre, wo ich zugleich schalten, mich orientieren, blinken, die anderen Verkehrsteilnehmerinnen im Blick behalten und dabei immer auf der richtigen Strassenseite bleiben musste ;-). In grösseren Städten (Glasgow, Edinburgh) haben wir teilweise länger einen passenden Parkplatz gesucht, aber immer einen gefunden. (In einigen Städten gibt es eine Low Emission Zone (LEZ), in der man eine Gebühr zahlen muss. David kann darüber gut Auskunft geben.)
Wenn es uns wieder nach England treibt, würden wir auf jeden Fall versuchen, Oakie wieder zu mieten. Es war super! Tausend Dank an David!
