Arkoo loves an adventure!
Arkoo is named after a much loved African Grey Parrot adopted by my grandparents when they lived in Africa. Arkoo travelled with them to the UK in the early 70s and was a chilled out parrot, with plenty of character, always provoking a laugh (through language and music mimicry) and happy memories. Arkoo follows from the Twi word for parrot/bird, Ako.
You know the Urban Dictionary? If so, you might know "koo" (slang for cool). So, when with Arkoo, "Let's find our koo". Embrace adventure, find a balance and improve your wellbeing.
Arkoo is as much at home in the wilderness (self-sufficient, off grid) as weekend getaways and sports events, family holidays, and European tours. Arkoo loves the buzz of a festival! In her chill time, Arkoo loves to provide a calm space for helping you to create a better work-life balance and support remote working (she has plenty of power but you'll need the G/Wifi).
Arkoo is available with everything that you'll need to make your adventure your koo.
FINDING ARKOO
Arkoo is located within one mile of the beautiful Georgian market town of Farnham in Surrey, on the boundaries of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the South Downs National Park. Heathrow, Gatwick, and Southampton airports are within a one hour drive. The international and Isle of Wight ferry ports in Portsmouth are about a 50 minute drive.
You can leave your vehicle in Arkoo's space whilst you're out adventuring. Alternatively, Farnham mainline train station is less than one mile away.
If you would like collection from Heathrow, Gatwick or Southampton airports then I can arrange that for you; please contact me for a quote. Alternatively, I can advise on public transportation.
I can offer you bed and breakfast (one king size bed and an option to add in an inflatable bed) for the nights before and after your rental of Arkoo. Again, please contact me for additional information and price.
Quoted prices are on the basis of 24 hour periods (i.e. collection at midday and return by 11am). I am flexible on pick-up and drop-off times and can accommodate these during daylight hours. However, there might be additional pro-rated costs if going beyond a 24-hour period. For example, I'm happy for you to collect at 9am and drop back at 9pm, but that will likely incur additional costs to reflect rental hours (e.g. your rental might reflect 4 full days, rather than the quoted 3 x 24 hour periods). Any additional costs will be reasonable and agreed between us before booking confirmation.
TAILORING ARKOO FOR YOUR NEEDS
Please don't hesitate to ask questions about Arkoo. I can provide additional items to support your stay (e.g. fire pit, dog bowls, dog bed, fairy lights, disco ball balloons, clothes rail, aquaroll to refill the water at festivals), offer tips for the local area, and help with reduced cost ferry travel to the Isle of Wight.
All sheets are cotton (no polycotton or polyester). There's no obligation to have linen provided - you can use your own. I have additional blankets that you can borrow. I will provide clean mattress protectors.
I can provide towels. They are not hotel fluffy - they take up too much space in Arkoo and take a long time to dry. I can supply lovely cotton hammam towels - light and quick to dry.
You can borrow a clothes airer that can be affixed to the exterior of Arkoo, to help manage soggy and drying clothes.
Arkoo is vegetarian and vegan friendly. Although this is my default, it’s not for most. And I would want to be confident that pans and utensils had not been used to cook meat. If you would like non-meat or halal pans and utensils then please let me know and I’ll happily provide.
If you've scrolled through the photos of Arkoo then you would have seen that there are two double bunk beds. The bottom bunk is also a two-bench seater. The top bunk is removable. Please let me know if you want to retain the top bunk for your rental; I can remove and safely store this.
You would also have seen that the dinette table can be removed. You might want the additional space in Arkoo (e.g. if you're taking sports equipment). So, again, please let me know if you would like this removed and I can safely store.
I have a small two person tent if you would like to borrow this, to pitch under the awning/near Arkoo. Please enquire on cost.
There are mozzie/fly screens on all windows and the side door. Blinds on all habitation windows. There's a blackout screen for the windscreen and front cab windows.
Heating and hot water powered through solar panel, leisure battery and gas.
LOOKING AFTER ARKOO
Arkoo is 5.99m length, 2.27m wide, 2.68m high. Please be careful not to ruffle her feathers.
The expectation is that Arkoo is clean (interior and exterior) and dry (interior) on return. Cleaning products are included. There is a jet wash available at a filling station near where Arkoo lives, and a hand car wash closer by.
The expectation is that Arkoo's fuel is refilled on return. You will be asked to refill the diesel tank and also the LPG (there are no gas cannisters in Arkoo; there is a large volume underslung LPG tank). I can advise you on where to fill up. Charges will be applied if the diesel and LPG are not refilled.
The expectation is that the toilet cassette is empty and the shower area is wiped dry prior to return.
Please don't go off road with Arkoo. Although adventurous, she has a delicate undercarriage! If you're going to a festival then please try to contain your excitement until you have parked at your pitch! Drive slowly and carefully through the field/s so as not to damage the waste water pipes under Arkoo. If this is the only part of your festival weekend that you take slowly, you'll have a much better time for it!
