Need destination options? In addition to the ever attractive NC500 we’ve boats leaving Aberdeen for Orkney and Shetland, the North East 250 route, Cairngorm National Park and the whisky country of Speyside all within close proximity. The islands on the West coast are also fabulous options.

Lovely to drive, perfect size for a family trip and coasting around the mountains and glens of Scotland. In the City she has you covered too with Euro 6 engine so low emission zone compliant and an option for a city break in Edinburgh or perhaps the East Neuk of Fife and St Andrews.

The VW California is the VW factory fit Camper in the T6 chassis. The purpose build from VW has ingenious storage and the sliding rails under the rear bench seat which in our opinion make a huge difference to the overall journey and feel to the van bringing any rear passenger in close proximity to the front seats. The in built kitchen is finished to a very high standard and we like to say ‘it’s just all been well considered’.

We use a VW Cali van ourselves as our day vehicle (home van ‘Raul’ which is also advertised) and have set Luna up with all our travel knowledge and experience. For us the VW California just stacks up to give a light and airy feel it’s a fab fit out and gives a space configuration that everyone loves.

Rich in features eg Cruise Control, Climatic Zone Heating, Multi Function Steering Wheel, Digital Cockpit, Driver Alert System, Airbags, Parking Sensors, Reversing Camera, Electric Windows, Tinted Rear Windows, Auxiliary Diesel Heater for cool nights, Privacy Blinds and a fully equipped kitchen the van is ready to go.

The van is fitted with roof rails should a surf board be part of your plans (note the van height is around 2.2m with the rails attached). We love coffee so have added some unique touches in that respect also.

The van has Bluetooth meaning you can play your tunes as you go. Please also ask us for tunes should you wish our Spotify playlist.

The Hydraulic Roof raises at the press of a button for the upstairs bed and provides a full height living area when the bed is not in use. Spin the front two captain seats around and you have a snug space to relax and enjoy family / friend time together.

The auxiliary heater runs off the main Diesel tank so can be used when parked up. A table and 2 chairs are fitted within the van for your convenience for outdoor use. The signature California awning also provides a means of shade and shelter if required.

The T6 California Ocean comfortably sleeps two adults and two children. Simply pull forward the bench seat, fold down the seat back and set out your bedding for a great nights sleep.

The privacy blinds on all the windows slide easily into place and a thermal cover is provided for the front windowscreen for additional warmth and black out.

For bedding we provide luxury mattress toppers with cover sheets for both the downstairs and upstairs bed as standard. We can also provide extras luxury bedding, towels at a small add on fee.

A two ring gas hob, tap and sink, 42 litre fridge, cupboards and pull out internal table are integrated into the space. We love the California for its design simplicity everything considered in a smart and efficient way to truly make it a home from home.

As mentioned we have equipped the kitchen with all the key things you might need. We provide a gas bottle for the interior cooker and a spare just in case.

You may also hire a Cobb Oven from us should you wish to bbq outside, the oven can even heat a pizza or roast a chicken which really gives a massive amount of versatility (beach side cook etc!).

We will fill the water tank with fresh tap water before your hire on request please just ask.

The Cabin is lit by multiple LED lights, with USB charging points, a 12v socket to charge laptops and battery packs and a 230v socket for when you are hooked to campsite electricity. The van comes with a full 25m length hook-up cable so you can power up no matter how far the charge points are.

Additionally we have extras should this be desired inc bedding, SUP packs etc.

With mountains, coast, castles, whisky trails and the NE250 and NC 500 all in close vicinity this lovely California 4wd van is a great choice (see our list of many happy reviews!).

Note we are in close proximity to the city centre of Aberdeen in a residential area. There is free nearby street parking around us and we are located around a 20 minute drive from the airport and a 20 minute walk to the bus, train and ferry terminals.

We are happy to help provide guests suggestions of places to visit and we pride ourselves on giving a great service.

Note we run on a first come first served basis and prompt confirmation that the house rules are acceptable allows us to Accept your booking. It should be noted that bookings are only confirmed through payment via Goboony and we encourage early payment to secure the requested accepted booking 🙏.

We do ask that you treat the van as you would your own please.

Any accidents to be reported immediately as filling in insurance forms may become necessary on return we expect cooperation on this so that any issues can be swiftly resolved.

Consideration of cooking smells we provide an outside gas burner ring also to facilitate any need in this regard.

Pick up 3pm (note due to work commitments Wed and Thursday we do require some flexibility to these days)
Our general rule is to be as flexible as we can but we provide above guidance as we do tend to be busy.

We expect a punctual arrival and return when agreed outside of this time

Fuel full out / full return (unless otherwise agreed). £25 re-fueling cost + diesel cost if not returned with sent out.
Note this van is Diesel so be careful to follow per instructions on cap and only fill with Diesel and do not start engine if error made.

150 miles per day or 1,050 miles for a week.
Mileage 40p a mile if in excess of above (wear and tear allowance).

Minimum hirer age is 25 years max age 79 - outside of this please enquire.

Valid full licence required to drive

Insurance requires certain informations to be collected prior to rental; this includes Driving licence (both sides), proof of address (2 off within 90 days of rental we provide details on specifics once booking complete) we also require a DVLA check confirming points. Please read through info sent carefully.
Due to insurance requirements we recommend for USA driver enquiries then please see our van Raul as the Goboony excess is much lower for this circumstance.

Please allow time for Insurance validation we recommend provision of required information no later than 7 days prior to departure.

Confirmation of any driving convictions and any insurance / claims also sought please let us know soonest the circumstances and IF these circumstances change prior to departure date so that we may guarantee the validity of the insurance.

Pets are welcome (small and by prior agreement due to van size)
Animal clean £30 (discretionary to be discussed up front)
Off road is not allowed campsites obviously permitted (see tyre risk below)
No Festivals (unless agreed)
Clean out, Clean return note we will wash the outside of the van and a few is charged which covers our guidance once booking made. We will provide a video link to the functionality of the van. We also provide 30 minutes of assistance on travel plans if needed.

Excess for Glass is £500
2nd driver - we can take a 2nd driver but request a £20 handling fee for the additional admin.

Any damage to vehicle during hire whether fault or no fault may result in insurance claim for which we recommend excess protection either via Goboony or via 3rd Party (RentalCover) note this has to be done PRIOR to the hire date.

We shall not be accountable or liable for any accident per the Goboony Terms and Conditions and you must be comfortable with the deposit made and that this can and will be used for any accident damage where applicable.

It is at clients risk should damage occur to the vehicle so we recommend awnings are in during night time and when not present in the vehicle.

The client needs to consider the potential impact of the weather on awning and pop top (both wind and rain!).

Where possible ensure a sheltered location and point van rear towards prevailing wind direction will help to minimise inclement weather risks.

Ensure pop top is down when driving and slowly lower roof to check bellows collapse inwards during the lowering process noting that it can otherwise snag which is readily avoidable (we are happy to demonstrate and will provide a video for pre-rental familiarity).

Tyre blow out is a risk with some bumpy roads potholes etc and it is the client’s responsibility to ensure sensible speeds are observed and is the reason we ask for no off road conditions.
