Both Dougal and Chris were absolutely amazing - in evidently different ways! Chris was an absolute star to hire from - so accommodating and helpful from start to finish. Then Dougal (the van) was just brilliant - we had so much fun. Great to drive and simple to manage (following Chris' very helpful and informative training). Our experience with Journey VW Camper vans has been very positive. This is a small business, so service is very personal and helpful - Chris always ready to answer any queries in advance or during the trip (although the latter was not needed). We were novices, and were provided with a very detailed run through the van before we set off on our adventure, which meant we were then ready for the workings of the bed, roof, awning etc. Collection was after 2.30pm, so just be careful where you plan to travel to after pick up, as many sites like check in by 6pm. Florence is a fabulous looking van, she is well set up for hire and drives well. Excellent high seating position. Parks easily when out and about in majority of normal car spaces. The van is small, which makes for easier travelling on smaller roads, but makes it more tricky trying to live in such a small space, although again we are camping novices! However, not sure how it could host 4 people, unless two were young children. We were offered flexibility in return drop off time because Florence was not heading straight back out, which was a bonus. I urge anyone wanting to try before they consider a buy - to use Florence. Dougal and Chris were fantastic! We drove Dougal on his first 2 week trip to France and it made the journey so much easier than it otherwise would have been! As a note I would say that if you plan to sleep on the roof bed you should bring something to pad the mattress with - its pretty hard! Even with that though I would 100% recommend renting Dougal! Absolutely first class! Beautiful clean, new campervan with lots of lovely extra touches - tea, coffee, biscuits, new cloths & scourers, bin bags, cleaning wipes etc. Chris was brilliant at explaining how things worked. Can’t wait to book it again. July 2022
