I can’t even express enough how much we loved our trip with Ruby and how appreciative we are of Graeme! He answered all our questions prior to our trip and was so communicative. My husband is a large, 6’6 man and was able to comfortably drive Ruby with ease. We travelled almost 900 miles in just 5 days and Ruby was an absolute dream! Taking us everywhere we wanted to go without zero issues. Not only does the van drive great, but it was fully stocked with everything we may need while camping. The interior looked exactly like its photos and the bed was extremely comfortable! Many people commented how beautiful the van was whenever we parked with our doors open. Ruby truly felt like home, and a safe haven oasis during our travels. We felt so lucky by booking with Ruby and Graeme. Graeme truly has a heart of gold and made this process very easy. After returning the van, he even personally drove us to our hotel which wasn’t necessary, but so incredibly appreciated! He went above and beyond to ensure we felt comfortable and happy. If you’re on the fence about booking this van, DO IT! I have absolutely zero negative things to say about Ruby or Graeme, and would hire this van again in a heartbeat! July 2025

We are very disappointed. This van is misrepresented on the web. it is unroadworthy and unsafe to be on the highway. goboony has also let us down. Before you book find out what happens when your van breaks down. You will most likely have to rent ( and pay upfront) a replacement vehicle (if owners get back at you promptly). Then when you are back home you can wait for 5 weeks or longer to get your refund. communication is poor and the process is lengthy. it seems to be designed to be difficult. We are in the process to take legal steps and we will never book with goboony or greame again May 2025

We are a couple from the Netherlands who flew to Scotland. My girlfriend and I spent 12 days on the road with this camper van, Arthur. Upon arrival, I noticed that Arthur looked much worse and more poorly maintained, both inside and out, than the advertisement suggested. However, at that moment, we had no choice but to accept it, as we otherwise wouldn't have had a camper at all. First, I want to say that Graeme, the owner, was incredibly friendly and gave a clear explanation about the van when we picked it up. During our trip, he was always helpful and responded quickly via WhatsApp. So, we are very satisfied with Graeme as a person. The van "Arthur" provided us with a pleasant holiday. We managed to overlook its shortcomings and had a wonderful time together. However, I want to provide an honest review of the van, which is different from what the advertisement suggests. Given the severity, I will start with the last day of our vacation. On the last day, we discovered a flat front tire in a parking lot. When I tried to replace it, the jack was not working, there was no wrench, and even worse, the tire was dangerously worn out. The tire was so worn that the metal wires were exposed, cutting my finger while I was changing the tire. I also checked the other tires, and the other front tire was also worn down to the metal. At that point, we still had a 1.5-hour drive to Edinburgh to reach the airport. This was the last straw for us. We had been living with all the other issues throughout the holiday, but I want to take this opportunity to address them. The lock on the driver's door does not work, so I had to exit through the passenger door to lock the driver's door. The lock on the sliding door did not work from the inside. This door can only be opened from the outside, which is a fire safety issue because it's the only unobstructed door in the living area. Additionally, the sliding door did not close properly, requiring several attempts to shut it. The inside of the sliding door was unfinished. The side mirrors cannot be adjusted. They are supposed to be adjustable via the media system, but this did not work. The electric cooler does not work, so we had to use bags of ice cubes at the bottom. These bags were not watertight, so there was always a puddle of water in the cooler. The kitchen light does not work, and cables hang loose inside the cabinet. The camping chairs had broken armrests, and the camping table had a broken tabletop. The countertop was water-damaged. The kitchen cabinet doors were held shut with a makeshift strap. Under the carpet, the floor has four old wheelchair attachment points sticking out, which are unnecessary and should be removed to prevent tripping hazards. There are also two slot holes in the floor. It became clear to us that the van has not been maintained or refurbished for a long time. There were additional issues such as a broken middle beam of the bed, a broken toilet cover, no spare car bulbs, incomplete toolsets, warped cabinet doors, dirty dishes, low power steering fluid level making the vehicle hard to steer, and neglected engine maintenance making it extremely loud. The camper was exactly what we required. Options were slim when travelling with a baby, but we were able to safely mount a car seat, and the bunk bed was great for sleeping. Van was well stocked and we had no issues on our journey. Graeme was friendly and flexible, highly recommended April 2024

We had a super time in Graeme and Mandy’s Betty Blue. It has everything you need for a fun week travelling around Scotland. The van is very comfortable, full of character and has been well loved. Graeme was super to communicate with, and would highly recommend. September 2023

We had a great trip with Arthur. It took one or two days to get used to its size and driving left as non-UK residents, but in the end we could go everywhere we wanted in the Highlands and on the coast without any issue. Also, Graeme has been extremely nice and easy to discuss with. Highly recommend if you are not scared of the size of Arthur! :-) August 2023

We had a great time in Ruby and Graeme was very helpful in sorting things out for us when they went wrong but there were just too many significant things either missing or not working. I'm sure Graeme will be working to sort things out but she is an older van, so that comes with risk . Consequently she was not the best of value compared to other vans we have hired. August 2023

Arthur was a great drive, of course he needs some repair works, the heater wasn't working and was dripped on when it was raining during the night, but it was the incredibly comfortable bed that made up for it. Probably the best night sleep that I've ever had traveling in a camper. Graeme was also very responsive if there were any issues. I would recommend to anyone thinking of driving around Scotland July 2023

We had a fantastic Familly experience crossing Scotland with Gretna Green . A fair , powerful , warm and confortable van ( the beds were excellent !) , all bespoke equiped by Graeme. Graeme was always available for any questions during the trip via whatsapp so make a really good feeling journey . So many things to see that we will be back July 2023

Graeme was very nice and informative. A few minutes walk from the old town. Betty Blue is very well equipped for the adventure (the Porta Potti is a plus). I was able to fully stand upright in it. Our week in Ruby Red was a dream! She has a few tiny quirks which Graeme walked us through really comprehensively before leaving Edinburgh and was very responsive during the week. She is very fit for purpose driving around any roads in Scotland - we spent a week driving around the NE coast and through the Cairngorms and Ruby was a great drive. The bed is super comfy and the van is well kitted out for wild camping or at campsites - we only needed to bring clothes and buy food. We had a minor problem with airlock in the water tank and the cab is loud when driving on the motorway but didn’t take away from a great experience. Would definitely recommend a road trip in Ruby Red. Thanks Graeme! July 2022

The entire process of renting the van went super smoothly thanks to Graeme and Mandy! The van we were supposed to take broke down a couple days before our departure, but they immediately offered us a replacement and communicated quickly and honestly. They’re the sweetest and coolest people ever! Upon arrival we had some trouble with public transit, but they again replied quickly and we managed to figure something out. We were introduced to Betty Blue with a warm welcome and a tour. Graeme and Mandy explained how everything worked and answered all of our questions. At first Betty Blue was intimidating, but after you learn how to keep her rolling she drives like a babbling brook! She’s very cozy and had everything we could need during our roadtrip. She’s quite spacious which was comfortable, and we could easily cook and hang out inside the van. The bed was comfortable, soft, and warm. Thanks to her we had an amazing and unique trip, we got to see so many beautiful sights! June 2022

We travelled as a group of 4 with the vans Arthur and Betty Blue. Both vans were clean and tidy and had everything we needed. Graeme was very helpful when picking up the vans, explaining every detail and every issue we might come upon. Ruby Red is a lady with real personality and character. She was pleasure to drive round the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. This is a van which will go anywhere for you: no road too narrow, no incline too steep, no emergency stop too abrupt. Even though it rained pretty much all week, Ruby kept us warm and comfortable. Unfortunately we had a lot of problems with the van. The van was 20 years old and starting to show it. We had problems with a fuel leak to the heater, a puncture to the water tank, minor water leaks in wet weather as well as major condensation in the area where the bedding is stored. Having said that, Graham did try to rectify problems promptly and finally gave us a different van. When we returned the second van, Graham informed us that Ruby was with a mechanic to address the problems. As it turned out, the weather was bad anyway when we were dealing with these problems so we weren’t too bothered, but we’d have felt a lot more put out if we’d missed out on any good weather days messing with the van. Me and my boyfriend hired Betty Blue for our first ever adventure up the west coast of Scotland and it was all so dreamy (partly due to lucking out with the weather big time). It's the sort of van that you don't want to give back at the end because you feel like you've created a connection with it from all the memories you've made and how cosy and home like it is. We would definitely hire the van again if we were to come back to Scotland. September 2021

Arthur was a great travel buddy! The bed is really comfy (even for tall people) and there is plenty of space so that you can sit inside if the weather isn't ideal. The van had a couple of prior 'injuries' that we weren't aware of before commencing our journey but are set to be fixed very soon. Overall a great van for a fun adventure! September 2021

We had the best trip in Betty the van! Was perfect for a few days of traveling around wherever we wanted. The van had everything you could need and made for the perfect getaway! Very fun! The only thing we’d have to change would be the magnetic curtains on the back windows- they worked well but it was often quite difficult getting them to stay up!
