Hi there,
We have had great fun taking family trips in our motorhome and now look forward to being part of bringing your road trip adventures to life.
We have traveled many parts of Scotland but have to say prefer the west coast.

Our experience with this motorhome was disastrous. Hugh and Aileen seem kind and friendly, but after all, they'll try to take advantage of the rental by blocking the deposit. If you decide to rent this motorhome, I hope you don't have any mishaps because you can forget about your money. We had a puncture and lightly hit the rear bumper. When we returned the motorhome, they told us everything was fine and there was no problem, and that the insurance would cover the repair. The next day, they blocked the return of the deposit and demanded payment for the wheel and the replacement of the entire bumper. They provided a fake invoice to justify the repairs, of which there is no evidence that they were carried out; there are no photos or anything, just an invoice issued by their own company. And if you think this is bad, the worst part is that, after more than a month, the Goboony team agrees with them without even taking our arguments seriously and without verifying that the motorhome owner actually carried out the repairs on the motorhome, which makes me think they made a deal between themselves. How is it possible that for a small dent, the entire bumper has to be replaced at the exorbitant price of 675 pounds, with no invoice, no photos of the repairs? A complete scam. Please don't rent this motorhome. They offer it at a low price and then scam you when you make a small mistake. And if you can, don't use Goboony either; they've proven to be completely inept at handling this case. And it's better not to talk about the motorhome, it's old and uncomfortable, it consumes a ton of fuel, you should better look for another one. September 2025

We spent 9 wonderful days across Scotland – 950 miles. We are family with 3 “kids” (14, 17 and 19) and motorhome is fine with space and commodity. The owners are very friendly and explained everything about the car, roads, etc. Communication – perfect. Motorhome is an older model but without any functional mistake. Motorhome is big but no problem for normal experienced drivers. For overnight and parking we use Park4night and there are plenty of places and camps for any pocket. We recommend to rent a motorhome by Hugh. August 2025
Response from Hugh Thank you so much for your kind words Robert. You and your family were a complete joy to rent to, and if you decide to return to "Sunny Scotland", the Kelpie King will be ready and waiting for you. Hugh and Aileen

We had a wonderful two week trip to the Outer Hebrides with the Kelpie King as our home. As a family of four with two young boys, it was ideal. We had plenty of space and were able to sleep, eat and entertain ourselves perfectly. It is worth adding that the vehicle is about 20 years old and so you can expect to find the usual wear and tear of any vehicle of that age, but there was nothing serious that impacted our trip. Hugh and Aileen were lovely and really responsive if we had any questions - they will do all they can to ensure you have a good experience! July 2025

It was a very nice trip around scotland. The handover is uncomplicated, massaging in advance was great. We received quick answers on our questions and the advice is on point. The motorhome is old, but everything works as intended. I just can recommend and would book this trip again July 2025

The motorhome is an older model but still in decent condition. It's best suited for 4 people, as accommodating 6 could feel cramped during rainy days when you’re confined indoors or while driving. The fresh water tank is generously sized and can offer extended independence, depending on how much water you use for the shower and cooking. For a group of 4, the tank would likely last around 2 days with moderate shower use, normal water for cooking, and regular toilet flushing. The bigger limitation is the grey water tank and toilet cartridge, so it’s advisable to plan camp stops at least every 2 days, even if you prefer off-grid adventures. This estimate is based on our experience, as we camped daily and relied on external facilities. Do consider that 220/240V is only available if hooked to the grid; off-grid inner lights and water pumps only. We didn’t use the gas stove or fridge since we opted to dine out. The diesel tank is relatively small (around 60 litres), which limits your range. I’d recommend refuelling when it reaches half or one-third full, especially in northern Scotland where gas stations are sparse. Fuel consumption is shy of 12L/100km or roughly 20 MPG, which is reasonable for a 2.8L engine (I initially expected it to be higher). The collection and return process was seamless; we were thoroughly briefed on the motorhome’s operations, and all paperwork and handovers were handled professionally. I would recommend this motorhome and the service provided by goboony and this vendor. August 2024
